Update on construction activities at Ford Airfield.
Dear Neighbour,
We wanted to share with you an update on construction and planning activities for Vistry’s Ford Airfield site.
In December 2025, Arun District Council approved the first three detailed planning applications for the site, which includes infrastructure across the site and 698 new homes.
On-site, Vistry and its contractors began work this week (w/c 23rd March) on a diversion for the S175 footpath. This is on track to be completed within three weeks, weather allowing.
As shared on on-site notices last month, the footpaths 363 and 366 remain temporarily closed while archaeological works are carried out in the area.
Hoardings and banners will be put up on site in the coming weeks, as marketing for the new homes commences.
Vistry has been working to get the planning conditions associated with its planning permissions discharged (approved). Recently, the following conditions have been discharged by Arun District Council:
- Condition 6: (Written Scheme of Investigation) for the Enabling Works, IRM, RM1 and RM4 phases. This means that the construction of a temporary haul road on site can begin.
- Condition 10: The Construction Management Plan for Enabling Works has been approved.
- Condition 22: The scheme for the protection of retained trees has been approved by ADC. Next week (w/c 30th March) an ecologist will be on-site to oversee the removal of trees necessary for the creation of a haul road.
In the coming months, Vistry’s planning team will be consulting the community for their feedback on the detailed plans for the village centre and final phase of new homes.
We will continue to keep you updated on on-site construction activities. Please get in contact with us if you have any questions in the meantime.
