Planning consent for Ford Airfield’s first three reserved matters planning applications
We’re pleased to share that Arun District Council has approved our Reserved Matters planning applications for The Landings, Ford. This is an important milestone in bringing our shared vision for Ford’s former airfield site to life.
This approval means we can now move forward with delivering 698 new homes, alongside the roads, green spaces, and community infrastructure that will form the foundations of this new neighbourhood.
What’s Been Approved
Three separate reserved matters applications have been approved, covering housing in the northern and southern parts of the site, plus the essential infrastructure to support the wider development.
Reserved Matters 1 (RM1 – North): 341 mixed-tenure homes, comprising:
These approvals are part of our wider masterplan for The Landings, a new neighbourhood that will eventually provide around 1,500 homes at the heart of Ford.
As well as housing, the Landings will include:
- A new primary school
- A care home
- A local centre with shops and services
- Community facilities and further green spaces
The Landings is the result of more than ten years of local collaboration. The vision for this site was first established through the Ford Neighbourhood Plan, led by the Ford Community Land Trust and supported by parish councils and local residents. It was subsequently confirmed in the Arun District Plan as a strategic site allocation.
Since acquiring the former airfield in 2024, we’ve been working closely with our partners to turn that shared vision into reality. This approval is testament to the hard work of everyone involved, including the Ford Community Land Trust, local parish councils, and residents who have supported this scheme from the start.
